What is podcasting?

Podcasting is a handy way of getting regular audio files from The Christian Institute. We send the audio automatically to your computer rather than you having to get the audio from us, a bit like getting a magazine delivered rather than having to go to the newsagents.

You need to subscribe to receive a podcast, just like subscribing to a magazine. The Christian Institute's podcasts are free, and you can stop receiving the files at any time.

What do I need?

  1. Computer

Almost any PC or Mac will be capable of receiving podcasts.

  2. Internet connection

You will need to have internet access, preferably via broadband.

  3. Podcast receivers

You can subscribe to podcasts using some internet websites (e.g. iGoogle) but most people use software - such as iTunes. You can download iTunes for free from the Apple website, or see below for a more extensive list of receivers.

  4. Mp3 player (optional)

You can also transfer the podcast onto a mp3 player, such as an iPod (please note that iTunes will only work with iPods).

  5. Podcast feed

This is the internet address (URL) of the podcast subscription. You will need to copy the URL into your podcast receiver.

The URL will differ depending on which podcast you subscribe to. The URL will be available on the appropriate podcast page.

What do I do?

Once you have a podcast receiver you then need to subscribe to a particular podcast feed. You can do this by copying and pasting the podcast's URL into the appropriate place in your receiver. The Christian Institute's podcasts also have a one-click subscription facility for those using iTunes.

The following receivers work with both PC and Mac computers.
