Last updated: 29 October 2007

A new poll suggests that a majority of MPs want to see the 24 week age limit for abortion reduced.

In a poll conducted by The Daily Telegraph New window icon 62% of over 100 MPs who responded said they would like to see the time limit lowered.

Over half (53%) oppose moves to make early abortions easier by allowing nurses and midwives to carry out the procedure and by making it possible for the second stage of a medical abortion to be carried out at home.
