Nearly six in ten Britons believe Jesus rose from the dead, though only half of those agree that his resurrection was physical, according to a recent survey.

It shows that 40 per cent of the British public believe Jesus was the Son of God and a similar proportion agrees that he died for the sins of the world. Just under a third expect to face judgment after they die.

Almost half of those asked described themselves as Christians, though only 8% said they attend church regularly. Less than a quarter of respondents said they were atheists.

The poll of over 1,000 British adults, was conducted by ComRes for the public theology think-tank Theos.
