Who runs the theatre?
The Hippodrome is a charity and limited company run by a board of 7 trustees, up to one-third of whom are nominated by Birmingham City Council. At present 2 councillors are trustees. There is also a Managing Director.
How is the theatre funded?
In November 2005 Birmingham City Council agreed to award a capital grant of £4.35 million to the Hippodrome - in order to secure the theatre's long-term financial stability. The grant was necessary to enable the Hippodrome to repay the £2.85 million of accumulated loans owed to the Council and to provide further funding.
